Can ChatGPT Edit Videos? How to Make Videos with AI Fast

Can ChatGPT Edit Videos? In this tutorial I show you how to edit videos with ChatGPT using Codex and HyperFrames, a free, open source plugin that renders the video on your own computer. Codex watched and transcribed my footage, put the steps in order, cut my pauses and false starts, added on-screen text callouts and captions, then checked its own render and fixed what it found. It took about 30 minutes for a 41-second video, and I could do other things while it worked.

You’ll also see how to fix the edit with a simple prompt, how to turn it into a vertical Shorts version with one sentence, and how to save your editing style so the next video takes even less work. Plus what Codex costs: it is included in every ChatGPT plan, but the Codex desktop app and plugins start on the Plus plan.

📋 MY PROMPT (copy it and change the details for your own footage)
This folder has 8 raw, unlabeled video clips of me making a cappuccino coffee at home, for a short video called “How to Make Café-Quality Cappuccino at Home”.

Before you edit anything, go through every clip, transcribe the audio, and give me a one-line summary of what each clip shows, so I can check you understood the footage.

Then edit them into a finished 16:9 video for YouTube, 30+ seconds long.
– Open on the best-looking shot of the finished coffee within the first 3 seconds.
– Cut pauses, false starts, repeated takes and dead air.
– Put the steps in the order you’d actually make it: beans, grinding, heating the water, brewing, pouring, etc
– Add short on-screen text callouts for the details I mention, like amounts, grind size, water temperature and brew time, inside the safe area and never over my face. Research and add any missing details.
– Add descriptive captions built from the final edited cut, two to four words at a time, white, in the lower third.

When the render is done, check it for text running off screen, captions out of sync and cuts that clip words. Fix what you find, then show me the final video.

Use @HyperFrames for the edit and the render.
